Freud was famous for analyzing things, even over-analyzing them to the point of meaninglessness. In Freud’s world, something like a cigar could be considered a phallic symbol, and well… the fact that it’s something you put in your mouth… you can guess what that might represent on a subconscious level. Sigmund was, of course, a fan of cigars. In response to the obvious indictment, he once said,
“Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar”.
